HomeAbout us

Who are we?

We are Harry and Lammijne and we live together with our four cats cats Chyara, Éowyn, Casey and Garance in Groningen, in the North of the Netherlands. At the end of Juy 2007 our first Somali, Ayan, moved in with us. We really fell for the great character of the Somali and also for his beautiful ‘wild’ look. Ayan made the character description which we fell for definitely truth. So active, curious, and affectionate and such a beautiful appearance. We only fell more in love with the Somali. The wish to, of course relatively, contribute to the exist of these beautiful cats grew more and more...

At the beginning of April 2008, Shanti moved in with us. She is an Abyssinian Variant-girl and the half-sister of Ayan. On the 9th of May 2009, Shanti gave birth to three beautiful Somali-kittens. One male and two females. One of the females, Aruna Lady Éowyn of Ithilien, stayed with us. On April 25, 2011 Éowyn gave birth to one son, Aruna Chasing Cars. It's the plan he will become father once.

In August 2011 we welcomed a new little lady in our cattery. She comes all the way from Canada: Agilesomalis Garance of Aruna. We hope Garance and Casey will have kittens in 2012.

Since the 25th of February 2008 is our small-scale Somali-cattery Aruna a fact! Aruna means chestnut/auburn, the reddish glow of the rising sun. In Sanskrit it means: the reddish one. It refers to the colours we prefer to breed: ruddy and sorrel. Aruna is also a link to our first and beloved Somali: Dakini Aruna Ayan.
