Chyara came to live with us in January 2007. She came from a woman who unfortunately couldn’t take care of her anymore due to a divorce and financial problems. This woman in turn took her from people who neglected to take care of their cats. When she was taken away from those people, Chyara was very skinny, didn’t have any hair on her tail and turned out to be also halfway into her pregnancy! At her previous owner, Chyara recovered very well.
Chyara is a very sweet, gentle and modest cat. She knows how to win everyone’s heart. She also has her silly play times during the day. She’ll race around the house and get crazy with her favourite toys. At first we thought that Chyara was a very quiet cat, until I got a couple of those ‘simple’ fur toy mice. I had bought other toys before, but she didn’t seem very interested in them. It was a lot of fun to see how she enjoyed those toy mice! She also loves being out in the garden, looking at everything and running around. We also often see her being silly together with Ayan.
One thing Chyara is really good at is begging for treats. If one of us is doing something in the kitchen, she sticks by us like glue. She’ll curl around your legs, talk to you in her sweetest voice and look at you with her lovely eyes, often resulting in success for her! Chyara also loves lying on the bed with us, kneading the blankets, purring loudly and then lie stretched on top of one of us. She also loves it when Harry grooms her. She’s really Harry’s little girl. She adores him and sits on his lap very often to get pampered. She likes to sit on my lap too, especially when I’m wearing my bath robe so she can knead the fabric. 
According to her last owner, Chyara is a pure breed Somali. She isn’t, in fact, but judging by her coat, it is possible that there is some Somali in her blood line. What kind of cross she is we don’t know, but we think she’s absolutely beautiful with her long coat and big green eyes. We also don’t know exactly how old she is. In the beginning of 2007, the vet estimated her to be 3 years old.
